Retargeting is the process by which ads of possible interest are shown to a user, based on their previous anonymous browsing of products.
The consumer can be targeted with advertising featuring such products or from the same category via dynamically generated display ads. For example, an advertiser can target a user who has recently looked at MP3 players with customized product ads based on that user’s individual browsing activity. Or a banner featuring a coat can be displayed on the screen of another user who has recently shown interest in that category, brand – or for the coat itself.
Thus, media is acquired and an ad created for each individual consumer in real time.
